My Lucky Dragon

Description: This is my lucky dragon from Singapore. Not sure what species it belongs to but it lives in freshwaters. Its about 5inches but they can grow up to 8-10inches. It feeds on shrimps and the cute thing about them is, they chew their food slowly like a snake, swallowing them down. It does live up to its name as Lucky Dragon.

That's known as Cuvier bichir (Polypterus senegalus). I own one who is my favorite fish. He's currently 10 inches and some grow to 15 depending on feeding and individual. Mine is only a year old, so I'm hoping to push the envelop on his size. careful, he'll eat anything he can fit in his mouth. Mine is hand tame and loves cichlid pellets. I also have an ornamental bichir who has a great black and white speckled pattern. If you like yours so much, look into one of those.

Mine doesn't even get near to those cichlid pellets. I keep him together with few cichlids and he have to be fed seperately from the others. Mine is tamed too, so its easy to feed him seperately from other fishes in the tank.

I had 2 of the same kind but one went missing when I was cleaning out the tank. Not sure if it went through the pipe and down to the drainage accidentally or something.
