Been raising Mantises since childhood.

If I had to guess, I'd say this was a type of Wolf Spider. It certainly doesn't look like any dangerous North American Spiders that I know of. These Spiders get thier name by they way they chase down and pounce on thier prey just like a Wolf.

Looks a lot like Hogna carolinensis, a Lycosidae (wolf spiders).
