Description: CAUGHT THIS LITTLE HUMDINGER IN IRAQ. PHOTOGRAPHED HIM AND RE-RELEASED BACK INTO DESERT. IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH A GOOD CLASSIFICATION I WOULD APPRICIATE IT (I'M A SNAKE GUY AND I'M NEW TO SCORPIONS)

Looks to me like that would be an Androctonus bicolor... Kinda hard to tell from the pics...

this is one of my favorites that is androctonus crassicauda the arabian fat tailed scorpion it can be confused with a. bicolor becaues of reigon and color bicolor is a shiny black with very thin pinchers and a. crassicauda has a bit thicker oner and threr a brownish red to black but this is a nice one in this pic... Really? Ive never seen a crassicauda have lightened patella before. Usually are a uniform dark color from femur to tarsus... But I could be wrong. I have never kept these before. And yes, it is a awesome scorpion. One to be respected!

well they change by origin little to none but they get lighter and darker like mine i have 2 that are light like this one but i have 3 more that are pretty dark i guess you woyld have to compare the 2 scorpions from different regional areas .. Rating: 5/5

thanks all for the info. to my knowledge this species is the "top dog" of scorpions in the area of Iraq that i'm stationed at.

Judging from the color It looks like a bicolor. But the claws are to heavy. It has to be a Crassicauda.
