Keywords: New CFBN Paludarium

I recently built this small paludarium for a Chinese FBN. There's a small waterfall in the left back corner. Comments or advice are welcome!

The piece of cork bark I bought weighed about two pounds, but I had a good bit left over. I could have used a shorter piece---I wanted the "wrinkles" vertical, so I cut it into several shorter pieces. Cutting this stuff is a pain, by the way! I used hand saws; maybe a power saw would make it easier.

Thanks for the compliments! Actually (I hate to admit it) I have had some problems with the divider between the water and land. It is a piece of acrylic, bent and sealed into the tank with silicone. I have a persistent slow leak into the land side. Some folks have told me that acrylic (or plexiglas or whatever) and glass won't ever seal well, and I actually took out the divider (along with the newt, plants etc...everything but the cork bark) to look into putting in a glass divider. The glass guy tells me, though, that the acrylic should work, and the glass would have to be beveled to get a good seal (and it wouldn't be as cool, either!). Perhaps I needed to use a heavier acrylic; I used a pretty thin piece. I should start rebuilding tomorrow; I just can't decide whether to invest in another, thicker piece of plastic. Probably will; I'll let you know how it works.

Thanks again!
