OK,

The best known talker of all species is the blue fronted amazon. But African Greys are also extremely smart, and experts would probably say one of the smartest parrots is the African Grey.

I would have to say, both are equal in training ability.

Now about you not being able to login. Why can't you log in?

If you can email me at crazcanuk25@hotmail.com and tell me your password for Birdboard I will see if I can get in for you.

Yes, both parrots are very good talkers, but out of the two species the blue fronted amazon is the better talker.

And both are extremely smart!

Hello,
Are you saying I took to long to respond? LOL... let me tell you something... my life isn't this site and I'm only 14(YES 14)years old.

My hotmail is not working right now, so I can't check in my email for your password to log into msn.

Why's it matter how much an amazon is over here, because the prices are going to be different? An amazon is usually over SGD2000.

And I told you an african grey is usually over SGD 1000-2000

No, I am not Chinease lol. I am Canadian with dutch, and british heritage.

Your cockatoo does not want to eat the other food as its not as sweet as sunflowers. But, that does not matter because pellets are nutrtious for him, and sunflower seeds are not.

And yes, people still bring untamed birds to the vets to get checked. So bring your cockatoo to the vet.. he needs to be checked, even if he is not tame....

Steven the Canadian 14 year old.

I'm not sure if the amazon with a green head is a yellow naped amazon as their are many species of amazons in the oet trade.

Double yellow headed amazons may be the best talkers, but I'd day blue fronetd amazons would then be second on the list.

Right now its 5:02PM lol... I till got plenty of day ahead of me.

Hi xiaohe,

Not trying to barge in on you and Steve or anything, :) but don't let petshop owners convice you into getting a bird, expecially not if you don't know what species it is. (Not that im syaing you were going to, or even wanted to, buy it, just a pointer. :) )

I learned after much experience that it's a MUST to research thoroughly on the pet you want to get. You need to know what food they should eat, how much attention they need minimum, the best methods of taming, etc. For example I researched ducks as pets for 2 years before getting one, and learned heaps of information I would've never imagined.
As well as learning valuable information, its also a good idea to reasearch since the petstore employees may make the pet seem "easy to care for" and "a perfect pet", when that may not always be the case.

So in short, reseaching is the best way to go, for you and your pet. :)

Now, here's some pages to research your Cockatoo on.:

http://www.mytoos.com/

http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Vines/1492/cockatoos.html

http://www.parrothouse.com/sf12.html

It may also be a good idea to get a book about them! :)

For to convert his food, try this method of gradually switching him over:
Day 1-3:
1 part new food to 3 parts current food
Day 4-8:
2 parts new food to 2 parts current food
Day 9-14:
3 parts new food to 1 part current food
After 14 days:
Feed new food only. Your bird should be completely converted.

As for teaching him how to talk, visit this website:
http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/StoryTemplate_Process.cfm?specie=Birds&story_no=248

Though I'll warn you that i've heard that cockatoos aren't the best talkers.

For taming:
http://animal-world.com/encyclo/birds/cockatoos/CockatoosProfile.htm

On this page click "Handling/Training". It may also be good to read though this entire page, however.
