I have one question? I don't mean to bring this picture back, but I am wondering is it ok to feed a sick animal of any kind to a snake? I mean when the snake eats doesn't it sense sickness, or can't it pick up what the disease or whatever is making the other one sick. There have been instances where the ball wouldn't eat a rat and then it would die the next day, so I am trying to figure out if it was because the rat was sick and diseased and he could sense it or he just didn't want to eat? I couldn't imagine feeding a sick animal to any animal, but I would like to know if it is dangerous.

Man, I can't believe how everyone is reacting to this. It is cool. I think this a is a good thing to do to corns. breeders are breeding so many thousands now that there is not enough people t take care of them. That is the one and only reason I don't mess with corns. To me they are realy old news. Any corn fans please do not be offended by this, but it is my opinion. Food is food whether it be mice, chicks, rats, lizards, snakes, spiders, or whatever. I don't know why anyone would be making a big deal of this especially since the snake was dead.

lol Justin that was funny. There are so many corn snakes out there that they should be used as food for the kingsnakes!? I agree, but don't leave out the regal ringneck snakes. I have a picture on kingsnake.com of a regal eating an albino corn snake. Do a search for "ringneck snake" and it should turn up in the photo gallery.

I have seen all the ringneck pics of them eating that you have. That poor little brown snake was gravid and died thru no fault of mine. Go to the small terrestrials forum.

Kings eat snakes... fact... In that perspective: It's ok!

Nevertheless, the poster of this pic said: "The Corn Snake was sick and stopped eating for a couple of months, it was going to die very shortly anyways" --> My opinion: WRONG! I've got a Dumerili which stopped eating for HALF A YEAR at the age of TWO MONTHS(!) And it's alive (and eating) today!

IMHO: He shouldn't have fed this corn to the king. If it was fresh dead, ok, no prob...! But not before it was really over...

Who cares? Not me, you don't like it, don't look. I love pics of snakes eating other snakes, you should see my pics of ringneck snakes eating albino corn snakes, and rosy boas.

LOL, you feed ur regal ringneck rosy boas?? Why?? That is a huge waste of money!, I haven't seen rosys cheaper than $60, and if you are into feeding "unwanted" animals, u should start using iguanas!

I disagree with this photo for two reasons A) the corn was alive while being eaten, if freshly dead then perhaps ok. and B) If it has some form of parasite that was the cause of it to stop eating, then that could be passed on to the kingsnake, thus killing the kingsnake.

I am not a huge fan of corns, however own two (a snow corn and a carolina, which are coincidently the two corns that are talked about being eaten). A corn snake may seem meaningless and 'small', but they still have all the organs and many characteristics of any rarer snake and should be credited for that.

Other than that a snake has gotta eat and I suppose it was worth a snakes life and saving approximately the 30 cents it costs for a mouse.

Nick

P.S. Don't think I was offended by anything, I wasn't. I had a fair bit of fun laughing at some of your points.

Some snakes eat other snakes; it's a fact of life, and I have no problem with that. I don't see what all the controversy over this photo is all about, you people should pick more meaningful snake problems to pick on, like people killing snakes in the wild just becuase they're snakes. It's his pet, he can feed it whatever he wants, and it's not wrong. Sometimes I feel bad when I break the necks of the mice i feed to my snakes, but you realize that FOOD IS FOOD, and everything has to eat, and if that's what it eats, then that's what it eats, and that's fine.
