I have a beautiful German Shepher Dog. Guess what? We altered him by getting him neutered. We bypassed a $500 stud fee offer to do this. Why? He is healthier, has less risk of testicular cancer, and won't be as likely to wander off.

You want a Venomoid? Fine, no prob. It's not like to took his eyes or tongue. I see no problem here. I would like to see some links citing studies on the detriment done to the animal by removing its venom glands, and have those compared with the opposing view. I might do that later, but am too lazy to right now.

Great debate, though. Way to get this started! Oh, and do you prefer sand or solid substrate for your Leopard Geckos? (Just Kidding...)

very large difference in castrating and this practice. This is cruel and yes venomous snakes do need their venom. This aids in digestion. A bad practice! Also gives people the chance to keep them like Corn snakes WHICH THEY AREN'T! they aren't meant to be held. People that keep venomoids have no respect for venomous snakes. Venomoids should be outlawed. This practice doesn't help the animal in anyway, it actually hurts the animal!

Once again, Cite your source for stating this is harmful to the animal. I want scientific proof, not opinion, which is all we have stated here. No one should say "this is bad" unless they can prove with a reviewable scientific study.

Not getting testy here, just want to read the findings for myself.

Did a Google search on the topic. My findings?

Some people say it's o.k, some people say it's not. There is scientific proof that snakes live just as long and just as healthy without venom glands. There are also scientific findings that suggest venom aids in digestion. From all angles of Herpotology, there are differing opinions.

There ya have it. Debate on...

Uh...feel like I came in during the middle of a hail storm.
I'm interested in learning more about this procedure as I have not done much research and until this thought it was a myth.
Beautiful snake hands down. So cute!
Is this a vet procedure?

To tell you the truth I'm jealous. But, when I really think about it. It is kinda destroying a part of what makes the snake so fascinating and different. Can they eat live animals with no venom to depend on. Just voicing an OPINION.A WORD WE ALL NEED TO USE MORE

No he can not eat live pray but it is advantegous for snakes to eat pre-killed pray anyways so its not a problem. Check his new pic at:
