i have a question! what type of UVA/UVB lighting do you use for snakes? see, i am getting one in 3 days and i dont really trust the pet store (p.s i am getting the sanke from a friend who sells them)

no type of uva/uvb is needed for snakes just heat . but it does make the enclosure look better

Heres something I know we can ALL aggree on: The people who are into venomoids are going to keep getting venomoids, and the people against them will keep bitching about it, and the two groups will fight, and fight, and fight until the end of time, (and I'll just be sittin in the back shaking my head in disgust :) nice snake, btw

Oh yeah, one more thing. Somebody earlier, I think it was shuba, said he/she "didn't care about the preservation of the rainforest"? I know it was a heated debate back there and sometimes we get carried away with ourselves, but come on! You'd better care, because without it you and all your snakes (venomoid and normal), your KIDS and your kids kids will suffer from loss of medicine, loss of natural beauty, source of many of the snakes themselves, and more importantly, lack of oxygen. I know I'm kinda getting off topic btw, but what can I say, I pay attention to detail ;)

re venomoid vs non venemoid...

i understand the argument that certain snakes requires their venom to help the digestive process.. but what about snakes that posess a neurotoxin? neurotoxic venom doesnt break down tissue or otherwise aid in digestion, does it?

I have been reading these posts for weeks now and decided to respond.
First of all snakes do NOT need venom to survive in captivity. Most venomous keepers feed prekilled rodents even to their hot snakes. I was employed at a local gator attraction for eleven years and never once fed any of out venomous snakes live prey. Some of those snakes are older than many of you are. So those stupid statistics are as full of BS as most of the animal right BS science. Outright lies and propaganda!

About 13 years ago I received a monacle cobra from a friend. It was a venomoid. It was also an adult. It is still alive and healthy today. This guy today has jumped on the "anti-venomoid" bandwagon and even has a whole page online whining about the injustices of venomoid surgery. Nevermind the fact that the hypocrite made all his start up money selling them. If he were not an old pal I would call him by name!

It amazes me that many of you left wing tree huggers will whine about a surgery on a rattler, but will totally support abortion. Do you love animals as much as you hate babies? You say that animals are people too? That is probably because many of your mothers engaged in beastiality, but I assure you that your daddy wasn't the German sheppard next door, even if the two of you do resemble one another!

As for you herpers. Either go join PETA or shut up! The greatest thing to overcome an army is to get division among its ranks. With these liberal salad shooters trying to outlaw the ownership of all pets, its time we stand together and not let them divide and conquer this hobby.

The difference between abortion and venomoiding a snake is that the human makes a desicion. The snake has no choice you make the desicion based on what you want not on what you would think the snake would like. Imagine you snake could talk and You asked it "Can I cut out your venom glands please" what do You thinks its answer would be... "Fuck off you dimented human!". Very nice comment before it raised alot of points and settled others but I will not stop crying I will ball my eyes out and I will Hug trees and I will go join the PETA but in the meantime I will keep crying and all those out there like "Mr Mature"(Nevermind) can keep counteracting my comments and my crying episodes simple becuase I get pleasure from this and enjoy sitting thousands of miles away behind my screen and keyboard argueing with complete strangers !!!

are you really that ignorant to make such a comment. The baby doesnt get to chose any more than the snake, and at least the snake comes out with its life.
Your saying that devenomizing a snake is unethical because the animal doesnt have a choice to go through the procedure because the owner subjects it to the surgery. But what choice does the baby, who science has proven can feel pain, have as its little body is ripped and torn to shreds inside the mothers womb. That is why I could care less about your stupid little animal rights issues. When you put people first, then I might listen to your animal issues. Again I ask, do you people love animals as much as you hate people?

Give me a reason to put human life before animal life, what good have humans actually done. Think about it humans are the cause for all suffering and injustice, if we're not busy poisoning our earth we are killing eachother. Why should i value human life? Becuase we have potential to do something for the good of mankind so we can abuse it? Becuase we Love and Feel? So does everything else.....Thats why i couldnt care less about your stupid little human issues, Give me a reason to like humans.
I stand corrected about the abortion issue but yet again it is humans causing the suffering of the baby getting torn to shreds.
