Hi! I just got one and he is about a foot long. He is very aggressive and hisses a lot. How would I go about taming him? I hope you can help me! :)

Hi codeykat. :) First I would suggest you let him alone for a day or two to settle in. Then do things like come and stand in front of his enclosure, just so he can see you and get used to you a bit. When you start handling him just hold him for a little while low inside the cage. Try to catch him to hold him quickly so you don't have to chase him around. Mine still hisses a little at me if I don't let him wander around my hands freely or when I help him with a shed.
How aggressive is he? Does he just hiss or does he try to bite or show his tongue?
If you have more questions you can go over to the skinks forum. I can advise you more throughly there. :) Bless, Jessie

Another Good way to tame Blue-tongues further is to Feed Him Yourself, By Hand if he lets you or take him out and feed him on you lap. He will then associate you with food and actually come out of hidding to see you.
Oh and try not to get bitten, It hurts

I just have a question. My blue-tongue's (sold to me as t. scincoides, but resembles your t. gigas more) tongue is mostly pink. It's about two years old now and measures 8". I just wanted to know if the normal coloration comes will come in as it matures or if this is abnormal, and if so, should I see my vet?
