Keywords: thieli set up

A rack system that has proved effective with Brookesia thieli. All cages have tops made of 1/4 inch plastic light covers for ceiling lights. With leaves on top of that and an 18inch powersun 5.0 bolted to a piece of wood that was bolted onto the steel frame five inches away. YOu could use ten gallons instead of my tanks, but it his hard to drill glass(although it can be done by taking your time and dripping a lot of water on it to cool it down as you go)Make sure you paint both long sides and one of the shorter sides having only one way to se in and out. A grassy green that looks like the rainforest in madagascar is what you need to paint the glass.
Then you use a bulk-head fitting and plumb it with pvc. The four top tanks can all be connected using pvc and run into a single five gallon bucket. The bottomed two need to be just plumbed with a 1inch piece of pvc and a shoe box underneath to catch the water. The drip system can use air tubing and air control valves. You need about a half gallon for two cages....... so three half gallons connected with air hose to the valves which can be adjusted to let it drip for 45 minutes or so in the morning(don't forget to also mist 2 times a day)
substrate is - from the bottom big gravel, smaller gravel, cypress mulch, 3:1 ratio of sand to soil with leaves both crushed and whole on top of that. The humidity is watched with a hygrometer(radio shack $20) and is kept at least 70%. Temperatures 73 f in day and 63 f during the night. Air conditioner$124 and two humidifier one $50 bucks and one $20 bucks all at a super-walmart. You have to always buy new filter and it gets quite expensive but you can see the results with the hygrometer!! Humidity is the number one way people stress out their Brookesia and kill it. Temperature is a close second.
Food is also an important consideration and don't forget to feed termites, crickets, and fruitflies. Termites can be captured easily with a pvc trap I will give anyone that is interested in the plans, so you always have termites(at least during the summer). Fruit fly cultures are also easy to maintain. Crickets are cheap. Vitamins are also a must. Cal with D3 twice a week and with minerall once a week. Especially for gravid females and juveniles. Once a week with both and the opportunity to get within 12 inches of the reptisun, will prove enough to keep adults at 100% potential.
