Did you have a female for the victor? That is, assuming that this looks like what I think it is, males pushing each other around for territory and dominance.

Two male monitors fighting for dominance in a very small territory is not funny. I suggest to keep them seperate. Did you know that the number one killer for reptiles is stress?
