Keywords: white stripe striped legs
This spider moved in awhile ago above our front door. She (?) is brownish with a white stripe on her back and striped legs. The web is a large, plain web (no zig zag pattern). Any help is appreciated -- I know nothing about spiders! Thanks!
She is a cross spider, or a garden orb weaver. We have lots of those in Oregon this time of year. Her relative is living in our front window. She's harmless.

Emeraulde -- Thanks so much! We really appreciate the help! I have one other question...what will happen to her when winter gets here? Do spiders hibernate?

That's a good question. I don't actually know. I've only begun my hobby with arachnids in the last few months. Perhaps other spider-experts could answer that? I do know that this type of spider is very common this time of year. I think that rather than hibernate, they have a short life span and will be replaced by their offspring next year.
