Keywords: Advice Blue Tongued Skink
I need help desperately! I got this blue tongued skink yesterday. It is so aggressive and it hisses at you if you get anywhere near him. I went o school this morning with an almost-broken finger because it attacks when you try to feed him! Is there anyway I could tame him? Please help!
Just to let everyone know, the stuff that looks like dirt in his cage is actually his food. The previous owner said that he was accustomed to eating dog food. It does a dive through the mushy dog food and smears it on his rocks, water dish, hiding box, and even on the sides of the cage!

get in there and handle him, thats all. im sure once hes handled often enough he will eventually calm down. I havent know blue-tongues as a particularly aggressive species. just watch the fingers!

He may be very aggressive when he is in his enclousure, once you have him in your hands he shouldn't attempt to bite you.

it looks like a female tanimbar island blue tongued skink...you need to handle her to tame her...throw a small towel over her and then pick her up while wrapped in the towel to protect yourself, than put her down and try to hand feed her and stuff. hope this works.

One of my blue tongues liked to hiss and bite when I got him but they tame pretty easily aslong as you handle him and let him get used to you.

We have two skinks one that we have had for eight years and the other one we got a month ago. The best thing that I can tell you is to find a diffent place to feed other than the cage. That way it will not think that you have food every time you reach in the cage. You need to handle it every day. My four year old boy handles are skinks everyday. They are very mellow.
