i found him (if it is a him i'm not sure) under the bed spread in the spear beedroom. he is about 4 1/2 inches long light in color. in calif high desert,palmdale.some people say it is a alagator lizaed.
also what does he eat???

It's very likely a Alli Lizard....I'd check further..but I can't find my field guide..
You can feed it Crix..while I was rehabilitating one...it really enjoyed them..

It's a southern alligator lizard, Elgaria multicarinata, most likely it's the San Diego subspecies webbii. Alligator lizards are not picky eaters. They will consume almost anything that they can catch and swallow that isn't noxious. In captivity they can be fed crickets, mealworms, and the occaisional pinky. Calcium supplementation is very important in captivity to prevent metabolic bone disease.
