That's so cool! I hope my girl gets that big eventually!

I've heard alot of you say how they grow way faster once you start feeding them rats as opposed to mice. Does anyone have a comment on hamsters or gerbils? Are they just as nutritious for them?

You ball python will generally love a gerbil but be careful they do sometimes get a taste for them and it is in some cases all they will eat, i dont see any problem with the hamster as long as you snake is big enought AND the hamster is DEAD you really shouldent feed live at all but if u must then please do SUPERVISE same goes for any rodent, -posted by 15 year old matt

You know, I was nervous when I wanted to start feeding my ball larger prey items because she seemed to be such a "picky eater" with mice. Sometimes I would buy 4 and she would only eat 2 or something. Well, when I started feeding hamsters (they always seem to be sold out of rats or gerbils), she went right after them!!! Ate 2 hamsters last time. I'm starting to think that she just wasn't interested in the mice because they were so small. Kind of like she didn't even want to waste the energy.. what do you guys think?

might wanna try and feed small rats. they are cheaper and better than hamsters.

No offense about feeding comments, but in the wild the snakes don't have someone kill they prey or choose the size of prey that comes along, unless it's too big. But honestly why do we feed the snakes dead prey, especially if raised with live food?
