He's pretty big for a tegu at 4' 4" last time I checked. I've heard they can get up to 5 feet long but I have yet to see one that big. You could expect oh maybe 4' from a male.

He shares an 8' by 3 1/2' cage with his lady. You could probably get by with a 6' by 3' cage for one. They are surprisingly content in a relatively small cage. Neither of mine ever really tries to get out of their cage and they are really active when I take them out except for when they're taking a bath, basking in the sun, or when I'm holding them (which works out nicely).

Yes, he is an Argentine B&W-white headed morph. The only time he's ever bit anyone was the first time I tried to pet him when he was a baby. He eats mostly kiwi and large thawed out mice. When he was younger he had a lot of insects (superworms) and cooked mussels (like clams).

You'll find that almost all tegus of this type are tame. I don't worry about either of mine biting, my wife doesn't think they'd even bite in self defense haha.

Every once in awhile I'll feed them something different like chicks, turkey, eggs, cooked fish, and different types of fruit.

Thanks JADE2U! Atlas511, if you look at my post above I go more into detail about the cageing.

I'm slooooowly planning on getting a larger lizard... I think I to have aimed it at a black and white... But, You mentioned having a bit of experience with Tegus.... Familiar with a blue tegu? Seems to be a color morph of a black and white from the pics I've seen, but I can't seem to find any solid info on them...

Yeah it's hard to find info on blue tegus. I think it's because they haven't been around till something like the 1990's. They're different then Argentine B&Ws: about 1/2' smaller, they can't breed with (no hybrids yet), and they look a little different. Luckily the care requirements, temperament, and diet are similar to Argentine B&Ws. So you can apply any info you find on them. If what you want is a "larger lizard" that extra 1/2' did seem to make a "big" difference with the one in the pic. I'm just thinking you might not be satisfied if the blue turns out to be a 3' female. Columbian B&Ws are a different species that doesn't get quite as big and doesn't have the amazing tameness of Blue or Arg B&Ws. G' luck on your decision, anything else I can help with?
