Yeah, I use three mice, or one small rat, problem becomes that he only will eat live, so the first rat I gave him gave him a bite on the head (all healed up fine and no scar) I'm letting him get a little bigger before I give him another one.

Mine only eats live too. I always stun it before serving. It may sound cruel, but usually holding it by its tail and swinging it against a hard surface once will stun it enough so there is no resistance. Rats are really resilient, so don't think that because it's stunned, you can leave it in there without supervision. What you now have after the cobwebs clear is a hurt and scared rat trying to protect itself.

I just bought a sm rat. I'm still afraid of the stunning it and having it have the possibility of going berserk, especially since my boa seems to have a striking problem (hardly get it by the head) and injuring my snake. I think it'd be different if I had a bigger enclosure or like a huge rubbermaid container to feed him in, but we'll see what he does with this rat. I'm trying pre-killed. one good knock to the top of the head killed it, and theres next to no blood. so we'll see, and I'll let ya know.

Hurray for you and your snake. Start of a great New Year! When I posted about be weary of the stunned rat, I meant stun it so it can't fight back for a bit. It usually takes about 3-4 hours before it comes back to it's senses. Just didn't want to mislead you in any way. Hey...whatever works for your snake is good!

Sorry, I don`t know if the first part got through...but I was saying how, many years ago, I gave my boa a mouse and she couldn`t quite constrict it well enough(when she hit it, she had half a live mouse in her mouth and couldn`t "get " the rest). It got her good and it sucked....anyway, I had to kill the mouse. My pet was in distress and went off feed for a year. That was many years ago and I`ve been feeding fresh killed or frozen ever since. Sicerely not trying to lecture, just wanted to share the lesson....

Yeah, Since I just tried feeding pre-killed to him he seems to take it just fine, so I've decided to start feeding all three of my babies pre-killed. mice and rats. Thanks to everyone for all the posts and support. I hope to have some newer pictures very very soon.
