Mom found this thing in an ivy vine (foothills of NC) around our house while she was trimming it back in prep for winter. If the pic isnt clear enough, it is a brownish construction that seems to be made out of dead leaves and silk, with two live leaves (green ones) wrapped around it.
If you tilt the thing there feels like something about the size and weight of a marble or ball bearing moving inside.
Guessing it's a moth cocoon (maybe a silkworm?) but no clue really..my last guess turned out to be a common bagworm, so ;p
