Possible world record?

Keywords: reticulated python huge long biggest

This of course is not the one, I just thought it was a cool picture. The people that own it said: "Elsie the 18 foot Reticulated Python, who is a regular at WSPCR shows, seen at the 2001 Great Canadian Pet Fair enjoying a rare quiet moment. Elsie is a very calm natured snake and trusted by her handlers. We always have several capable snake handlers nearby for her safety (kids can be aggressive and unpredictable sometimes!)"

But check out this story: http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/asiapcf/southeast/12/29/offbeat.giant.snake.ap/index.html

If it's true.. HOLY CRAP!!!

Take a close look at the video. I also seen pictures of this animal. It is not longer than 22 feet or so. Don't get yourself fooled. It is one big publicity stunt from that unknown little zoo in Indonesia.

I don't think so. How could they fake THAT??? a 22 footer looks big next to a regular sized person. That guy's way larger looking than a 22 footer. And after seeing the video, I don't see how you could say that. Unless you went and measured and weighed him.

I would have to agree with the 22' or so (probably 23') due to the fact that if you take a good look at the pic it shows people standing to the right of her.If she were 49' long then the people would all have to be around 6' wide themselves. For those who disagree...pull out a measuring tape and mark out 49' and compare for yourselves.A friend of mine had a 22'6" reticulated python and she looked about that size.People always thought She was 50' or so.It is a nice pic though.:)

I have seen and kept many many snakes over the last 30 years or so. I have seen or held all sizes of pythons in my hands myself. I have become reasonably good in estimating the size of boids and pythons and I can asure you the animal certainly is not bigger than 25 feet !!!!!!!! For sure !!!!!!

It would be nice if it were true. Does the smithsonian still offer the $50,000 reward for a snake over 30 ft. caught in the wild. If so we should have heard about this last year when they caught it.

this story is a hoax. i saw this story in a newspaper in london on the 29th, they said that no one was willing to get in with the snake and actually measure it. i say if they want to talk big then put up the numbers. i agree 25 ft max! most of the news pics out there are arbitrary and even the one with the keeper? if thats a 50 ft snake than that guy is about 3 ft. tall.

A reporter went there to see if it was true and it was 21 feet, the owner of it said that pythons sizes tend to change all the time, he said some days hes 49 feet and some days he isnt, lol.

Below is the link to the story, confirming the true length at 21 feet, in case anyone wanted to read it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3897494/
