Hi there,
I made the shell out of ceramic- specifically for the turtles to use as an island/cave. the inside traps a pocket of air so they don't have to come out to get air. the air pocket also is reflective, and they look up there all the time. it makes a great feeding place for hatchlings because pellets will stay inside instead of moving around with the water current.
