Thats a whole lot of UVB. That much isnt good for anything is it? I see that you are using one for your iguana in the background. Is this safe? Where did you get such a bulb?

Yes, this is too much UVB for anything, but because of the rapid decay rate, they must start out high to have a respectable value six months from now. The average value at 12 inches is now down in the low to mid 500's after one week of use for 3 bulbs.
Note that the bulbs in the background are not the same type. When I did replace one of the bulbs in the background, I raised it up so that the ig was getting around 300mWcmsq at the basking site. As the bulb decays, I keep adjusting the height of the bulb down closer to the basking site to try to maintain about 300. The bulbs are only 60 watts and don't produce much heat. The igs seem to like them, and I have noticed a slight increase in color on a few of them.
I got them from Weston Electronics, they are still in experimental stages. The predecessor which produces less uv is available via the following link.

UV reader costs 179.00, or you can join the yahoo uv group and buy it for less, when they make their next bulk purchase. It only reads UVB. Manufacturer also makes UVC and UVA meters. These lights do not produce UVC. http://www.myiguana.com/aclowuvbmet.html
