This beautiful spider lived on our back door at work for several months. After doing some research, I've discovered that it is a Jewel spider (Araneus gemmoides).

This is a type of Orb Weaver, likely a Barn Spider. I live in central Oklahoma and have these all over my front porch every spring & summer, the largest being roughly quarter-sized. They're mostly nocturnal, hiding in nooks & crevices during the day then coming out at night to make thier webs, feed, and mate. They're harmless to humans, but thier webs can be annoying if you walk into them accidentally.
