Wicked bite! You still came away in good shape considering what a croc "can" do.

That is nothing to be proud of. Your lucky he did not get you in the neck area. This is why Croc monitors should be Zoo animals only!

Argentin male tegus and croc monitores are completly different Animals. Alos what I said is my opinion , you dont have to agree. I have seen to many Cro monitor bites like this and worse. They are top appex Preditores (spelling). ,tegus are not.

kick ass bite. We were wondering if we could use this photo as an example to the kids we speak to about keeping exotic pets and what can possibly happen?

I don't like hearing that you want to show kids this picture! Croc monitors are not for amatures, and this isn't giving any good publicity to them. They are specially designed predatory lizards. Some states are working on the BAN of large lizards and snakes. You aren't helping the situation with this picture. I understand you guys think it's cool and it is a sweet bite, I read your articles, but will you think it is cool when they get banned or you are forced out of having your beloved pet. I love Crocs and don't want to loose them because people don't know how to handle them. There is always risk of injury, but please don't publicly show this off like it is cool. It only hurts true collectors. Next time watch your face and don't stick it it your lizards mouth.

i'm the person in the picture and i'll explain what happened we were putting up some rubber coated metal screen and i was sitting on the ledge where the door opened. there was cork bark hung on the walls like shelves and a female croc monitor was hiding up there and she slowly made here way down behind me. i'm screwing in brackets to bolt the screen to when wham i got hit the head it honestly didn't even feel like i got bit it felt like someone hit me on the top of the head with a hammer. then all of a sudden i felt something warm running down my face i was asking people wheres the camera im not cleaning this off til we find the camera after we took a couple pics i got all cleaned up expecting to have to go to the hospital for some stitches but it was nothing but 4 little pin pricks they just penetrated really deep and your head bleeds like crazy so this is what happened i love croc monitors and i have the utmost respect for them. we just thought the pics were cool we weren't trying to give monitors a bad reputation i was just in there territory and she was defending it
