Hmm, is it just me, or does this appear to be a young cantil, rather than a cottonmouth?

I'm fairly positive that the snake is a cantil. Cottonmouths, even juveniles, do not exhibit any white bordering to their saddles. Cantils do, however. Also, the head appears to have too much striping.

I agree, my reaction was that this was a cantil as well, for the reasons you gave...still a great pic though.

ITS A CANTIL ORIGIN MOST LIKELY COLIMA MEXICO. MY FRIEND CHRIS TOLD ME SO.
