absolutely adorable, what kind of turtle is he/she?
I love the long tail and the way the shell is ridged, it's just so beautiful.

The turts shown in the picture are my baby common snapping turtles. All three of my babies are bundles of joy, and GREAT eaters.

i just found a baby in the road and was wondering what kind it was, thought it was snapper but this picture proves it! Thats identical to my baby. what kind of food do you give them, Ive been giving floating pellets but he dosent seem to be enjoying them.

Snappers need to hunt,so small gold fish or minnows would be good for him.

Sorry for not seeing your post!
A balanced snapper diet can consist of insects(crickts,etc), earthworms, beefheart, shrimp, minnows/guppies, reptomin(Takes awhile for the turts to get used to the idea of eating the pellets), plant matter, cooked meats, etc...
I wish you luck on your little guy!
He may not eat right away if you see an eggsac on the bottom of him(Absorbing food)

depends on a lot. depends on how much they're eating, sex of the turtle, water conditions, etc. It's not uncommon to read about snappers growing 4" a year when young. They do grow fast though.

I rescued these guys in mid-fall, and kept them over winter into spring.Then releasing them at a secluded pond.
