How old is it, how much do you feed it and what do you feed it? I'm thinking to get one and the internet is telling me info from 10' to 25', rat/week to a goat/2months. I need the real low down! Thanx!

Males stay much smaller than females. They typically reach 12' from what I've been told. The feeding I'm not too sure on, but it varies so much that it seems to pretty much depend on the owner. The females are the ones that have been known to reach 25'. I'm actually going to be picking up a male fairly soon.

Generally, males do stay smaller than females. I think it's genes more than what you feed them as to how big they are going to get. It's like putting Shaq in a small house and expecting him to grow to his environment. They will, however, get up to their full potential faster if you feed them more. I feed this guy 5lb rabbits and some of the bigger ones I feed 2 10lbs rabbits a month.

Hey! Awesome burm! I, unfortunately, don't know a whole lot about them, so I was wondering if you could give me some info... like how old they usually get, how much they eat and how often, how much space they need, cost of the snake and etc. I'd really appreciate it. I feel pretty stupid being so crazy about snakes and knowing hardly anything about them. Thanx a bunch, Jennifer

I got a Albino since my post and have leraned quite a bit. Some from experience and most from a site call www.albinoburmese.com. Great site specializing in Burms. My guy is about 7 months and about 5 1/2 ft. He's taking 2 jumbo rats/wk and whatever my other snakes don't finish (2-3 large mice). It's definitely not a poor person's snake, if you want to keep it healthy and growing the way it's supposed to. They eat like a black hole in the 1st year and then you can slow it down so it doesn't get obese. They can last for 20-25 years, so it's quite a commitment from you and your famiily. I'm in the process of building an enclosure that measures 7x3x3 as his permanent home. Not trying to turn you off on this beauty, but think twice before making an impulse buy. They're cheap when they're babies, but the cost of keeping it grows exponentially! I wouldn't give mine up for the world. "OJ" has a great personality and has pegged me only once,(thought I was food when I reached into his cage, but quickly released). Now I just use a hook to take him out. Sorry for the long post, just so much info I want to share with a newbie!
