Keywords: California King snake closeup
This is a picture of my buddy beetlejuice....He's the best snake ever...never once tried to bite or must me. He escaped from this cage about 4 months after this picture was taken. Which was two days ago from now (March 2,04. It wouldn't be so hard to find him if it wasn't for the fact I live in a dormitory. He could of gone anywhere...or in any room. Hopefully he shows up somewhere...well not in the RA's room (im not supposed to have a snake). Well If i dont find him, I can only hope that he's made it into one of the ceilings in the building because there's mice up there. I sure do miss the guy already....
well, i was fortunate enough to lose herman in my house. losing a snake in the dorms, that sucks. have you tried leaving food out, or heat lamp, or tried looking at night? you're most likely to find it at night. well, good luck!

I live on campus and my cal king out. She went under a metal plate kind of behind and under the heater. I found her, but I did not find Tango-corn snake. You might if you have one look around there. Don't give up.

Thanks for the good idea's guys, I have already tried braining some pinkies and putting them near the heater at night but still no luck. I havn't tried putting out a heat lamp...so I'll try that. And yes snakedude, Beetlejuice had real nice unbroken stripes.

Well, Beetlejuice showed back up...bad part is that it was in the school cafeteria. He crawled over some kids foot while he was making a bagel. The kid yelled, and the cafeteria staff rushed over. They captured him with gloves on because they thought he was poisonous. They head of the cafeteria also wanted to sue the fruit company because they thought he came in with their fruit. It's too bad I wasn't at lunch that day because I would of definatly grabbed him and ran. Well security got him identified and found out he wasn't poisonous. Since he wasn't poisonous they gave him to a local reptile dealer in rochester. I found out that they had done this so I went down to the shop to see if I could get him back. Unfortuantly after talking to the owner I found out that Beetlejuice had been in very poor health when he was brought in by security..apparently he had bad resperitory problems (probably due to him spending two weeks in the walls and heaters of the school). The owner told me he have given beetlejuice to a local animal hospital. I called the animal hospital from the pet store and found out they had put Beetlejuice out of his misery the day before....Terrible. Well if there's anything good to this story, its that the owner of the reptile store felt bad for me and sold me one of his abino king snakes for an extremely generous offer. So now I have Lucy (my new snake) but I will never forget the short but well lived life of Beetlejuice.

hey man.......i am sorry to hear about Beetlejuice. But i bet the cafeteria scene was funny as hell though!I had a amexican milk die from upper res. infection-and she was only a yearling.I know just have my "Sami",a 5.5 yr. 4 ft.female coastal phase california kingsnake. Her black and white are not as clean as a desert phase, and she has 7 broken bands. But she is a good looking snake with good behaviors. Her side view has awesome white "A" pattern bands her whole length. And her bands on top are narrow......which is another indication of a coastal phase also. When you get the chance-send me a pic of your "Lucy" ok?I will probibly get an albino Calking next time because i love that lavender/yellow combo with the red eyes!

I hope before you got a new snake you got a better, more secure cage, or better secured the one you had for the escapee. Otherwise, you're going to losing snakes and filling that cage like a Pez dispenser.

Back in late January '02 I lost my female Cal King inside my house (which easily leads to the ground) in North Carolina. Now, it gets fairly cold in January in NC, so I feared the worst. I set a bowl of water right at the entrance where I saw her escape to. About 2 weeks later she came out fat as hell and shed in the living room. Yes, I grabbed her quickly and she was (and still is) fine. We figure she found a whole nest of mice under there. Anyway, put out a few bowls of water and hope. They are attracted to it. Ian.
