This is a pic of my hognose setup...i don't have the snake yet...just wondering if incandescent is okay for heating...it hold 84 degrees F though...but im afraid it might be too bright?

Hey, a bulb is ok for heating, but the white blubs are to bright, you can keep that on during the day, but at night you have to use a black or red bulb. You can even just use the black or red bulb on 24/7, umm just use the same wattage as the white light is that you have now, and the temp will stay the same. Hope this helps. peace, jonathanM

Hog nose should not have undertank heat! Hognoses are burrowers, among other reasons, they burrow to thermoregulate, the hognose will burrow to escape the heat and overheat. Watch what you advise people to do! How would you like it if one of your animals died because of bad advice?

Western hognose snakes have been reported to crawl up on a hot road to aid in digestion of their food. And I meant as a supplement to a basking light. Check out hognose.com!!!
