Cool pic there. I'm planning on buying one or two of these Mantises sometime this year. Any advice on caring for this species?

Hi Chris T.,
I'll have desiccata for sale within two to three months, so you can buy some from me if you haven't bought any by the time. Well my experience with them is that they are pretty easy to keep. I keep mine out of captivity and they seem to be pretty healthy and surprisingly stronger than captive ones. They seem pretty comfortable in room temp. about 76 degrees F whichy makes them live a little longer. the mainly hard part about them sor far is that the female doen't like to eat very much as the male does. So I have to almost hand feed it everytime. but it seems to have gotten out of that habbit for some reason. They are so fun to watch and observe, especially if warm enough to take them outside. I usually have to bring my female outside when it's warm enough all the time when it's hungry because she becomes way less nervouse to eat. She always feels comfortable eating on her own outside. I just grab a cricket and let it crawl up to her and she strikes it right away. In heard that mating them was the hardest part of raising them. I'll see what happens when I pair them up. I've also observed in them that theylove flying insects and once they see one, they'll grab it no matter if they're inside on my artificial plant nor outside. They love flying insects and I have to catch butterflies and moths now-a-days. You should really get desiccata. They're a really exotic and cool looking mantid and they are personally my favorite mantid. Let me know if you want to buy some from me when the nymphs come. My email adress if idznak103@yahoo.com
