Keywords: longnose long nose rhinocheilus lecontei

This Longnose snake (rhinocheilus lecontei) is wild-caught. It has been captive for about two weeks. It has developed this blemish on its nose. Anybody know what it is? Should I be concerned?

Well, ladies and gentlemen. I let this beautiful snake go.

He did slough his skin and looked like a new snake; but I could not get him to take a mouse. He would eat lizards; but only live ones and only in his home tank. If he is moved to a different tank for feeding, no matter how scrumptious the lizard, it's not getting eaten. He'll be happier in the wild - as long as an owl doesn't get him.
