Nice Cuban. How long stl is he? I have a Cuban that looks identical to yours, and he is 3 feet long and real stocky. He has the best personality. I don't know how old he is. You can see his pictures under Sam-N-Ella if you would like. thanks

Voltaire is a bit over three feet (missing the better part of his tail). He's certainly stunted size-wise. Adopted from a Reptile Sanctuary because he was being attacked by a larger male Cuban almost daily. He's growing - loves his food. Bullies our Pit Bull and I suspect he thinks he's a dog too.

Yeah, Chaos thinks he's a puppy, at least acts like one. He tolerates the cats, but he will bite them if they don't move out of his way. what do you feed him? He doesn't look too stunted, but I'm not too familiar with how big they should be. He looks real healthy though.

A male Cuban Iguana ought to be in the range of 5'-6' at the age of ten-years. I'm fanatic about all of the iguanas' diets. Too many books say to feed them once daily or even just twice a week (GASP!). They ought to have fresh food and water ALWAYS available during daylight hours. Their diet is as follows: collards, baby arugula, italian dandelion, nasturtium, hibiscus, chicory, escarole, turnip tops, occassionally curly mustard/chard/water cress. They also get vitamins mixed in to sweet potatos twice weekly and sometimes wild rice & beans. Fruit is high in sugar and takes longer to digest so they don't get it often. Good fruits are blueberries, cantaloupe, papaya, prickly pear, & peeled figs. If you're careful about the calcium-phosphorus ratio of the fresh food, then daily supplementing with calcium powder isn't necessary. After all, the best way for them to get essential vitamins & minerals is through leafy greens. Voltaire gets gut loaded superworms once in a while. The great thing about having turtles & a tortoise is that they eat the stems and tougher leaves that the igs won't. Everything else plus leftovers get thrown in to the compost heap.
