Hey, a fellow nj herper! In the part of Jersey where I live, herping sucks! But, I did manage to catch a nice big female watersnake last week.

i can find herps all over nj. u have to be careful man it is illegal to touch eny herp in nj with out a permit. unless ur getting bullfrogs or snapper u need to get them only durring there hunting seson and there is a limit. also u need a fishing lisence... i know there not fish but tthey are considered fish.

Hey,
Wow! awesome. That is my all time favorite tree frog. Where in the pine barrens did you find this little one wandering. I hunted around the PB, for years and never actually saw them, but heard them all the time.

I'm from Jersey City, but I don't herp here. I herp in other areas, mainly around Warren county. I have never been herpin in Pine Barrens, but hope to hit it this summer. I mainly find tons of Bull frogs, lots of musk turtles, painted turtles, a few snappers, salamanders, and there aren't too many snakes, mainly garters and waters, but I was lucky enough to see a copperhead. I hope to go to the pinebarrens in search of E. Kingsnakes, pinesnakes, E. hognose(I believe they are in P.B.), and all other snakes.

Ok, I think there are enough of us that we can get a herping trip going!

So far we have:

Jersey City
Brick
Elizabeth
I'm in Middlesex (20 mins from Eliz.)

All of us are within a "reasonable" driving distance, perhaps there are some good spots that we can meet up at.

Please, please, please, if you have some herp hot spots please do not post them here. There are some less than honorable folks who would love to know where that timber rattler den is!
