I hatched this one out on May 31st, 2004. It's male, and I'm proud of it. I got the larvae 2 months before, and it made the yellow cocoon. And after the two months, I proved it's survival. It popped out of the cocoon , drained itself , flapped it's wings and took off! Now, go my moth! Make more caterpillars for me! :D

Wow! two months! was it in a cold spot? i've found that, in my outdoor enclosure, the cooler it is the longer they go in pupae. Anyway, he's beautiful! Do you have any photos of the cocoon?

Yeah, after I got the caterpillar and it changed into the cocoon, it got colder. Oh? The cocoon? look closer: look in the above-left corner a little ways past the moth. That's the cocoon.
I didn't think to get a picture of the caterpillar.... but it was hairier than normal.

Wow, replies even after over a year has past... That's truely amazing.

Your caterpillar sounds pretty interesting. Our apple tree was demolished by the hurricanes and that means I won't be able to keep any more tent caterpillars, however we seem to be getting more of the other kinds I couldn't before.
Thanks for the comment on the picture, as I am still into photography, and it's one of the best of my '04 album. :) Took alot to take the picture, too, but I got it.
