Looks like a common American Desert Tarantula (Aphonopelma chalcodes)
to me. That's the only species in the US that matches that description. Only other Tarantula I know of that could possibly be in that area (and this is a long shot) is the Mexican Red-Legged Tarantula (B. Smithi), but I don't think they live that far north. Looks like this particular Tarantula's had quite a hard time. Was it alive when you found it?
