this is a rattler that was found on the way back from a field trip, on the side of the highway

Great animal! But I am glad that they don't live in the wild here! I'm afraid that my curousity would win from my fear.. ;-)

man i just wish i could have cought him/her with my own two hands, i love all snakes and vipers are my fav.

I like vipers too, but I would not want to keep them myself. I have caught common adders (vipera berus) though! Not nearly as venomous as this timber rattler, but stil venomous!

No, haven't seen it in the wild. I'm not sure, but i think i saw it on reptile convetions though! The only viper i've seen is Vipera berus

i luv the pattern running down the back of the meadow viper and some of the other vipers in the same fam.

I'll mail you a pic of one of the common adders I've caught. I think it has the same backpattern, but i'm not sure.

koool, yea alot of the european adders have the same basic pattern but usually have a diff. coloration depending on location

yup this one was on the side of the highway, i have never found a corn in the wild though, do u go to the sand hill to find them?
