Keywords: Butler's Garter Snake

This is a male, 15-17 inches which came from Presque Isle Co, MI, the northmost population in the U. S., and a range extension.

Butler's garters used to be very common in their habitat and they probably still are. The problem is that there's not much habitat left. They are protected in at least two states because they are so rare. They make great pets, but I don't have any. You can collect your own from the wild if you know where to go.
