the males stay way smaller but yes they lose their colors thats why the newer albino and lighter color morphs so popular.
There is a canal by me with some huge females and way smallermales all old and no colors .

Iamme, you have no idea what your talking about. RES do not get 20in! They max out at about 12-13in. Read up before you start giving out false information.

Well you exaggerated 4in then? I would like to see a picture of this 16in RES with a tape measure next to it. If it is 16in (and if its a RES) its very uncommon. The norm is 12-13in.

ok not to sound rude or n e thing but that water is too deep for that small of a turtle. If im correct it is a baby and babies need little water i ahve about 2 or 3 inches of wter and alost of stufff so she can grab onto, babies are poor swimmers and that is why they can drown if they get tired and its too deep. you have a great set up tho.

The water's not too deep, think of it, in the wild they would be living in lakes and ponds and other places with water deeper than that, they won't live in puddles.

Why do I keep seeing these posts from people saying the water is too deep!? Like the post above says turtles live in lakes and ponds not puddles. My babies started in a 25 Gallon filled 3/4 of the way with water and have never had any trouble with it as a matter of fact I have read several places they love to dive deep. It drives me crazy to hear people telling other people their water is too deep.
