What a fabulous photo! We just placed 24 ambanja eggs in vermiculite today. We're kind of amazed that everything has worked this far, now we hoping we are able to really hatch them out. This photo looks really wet - is it or does it just look like that? Any suggestions for the next 9 months? THANK YOU for posting this!

The vermiculite isn't nearly as wet as it looks in the picture. I think it was just the flash reflecting off of it that makes it look so wet. My rule of thumb for moistening vermiculite is just add enough water so that it sticks together when you pinch it but no water comes out. I also like to microwave the vermiculite for a few minutes and let it cool before using it to kill off anything that might be in it. Congrats on your eggs!! Hopefully in 9 or 10 months you'll have some hatchling pics of your own to post :)
