Black Racer

I think that is an indigo, thats awfully gerthy to be a racer, and I also thought that black racers had white bellys. I could definetley be wrong though. If not, all the snakes I have been catching since I was a kid must be something else.lol!

That is one large racer. It's temperment must be really nice : )

Ya thats defeinetley an eastern indigo, i just looked at some other pics. Thats pretty cool man I live in Florida and have been trying to find one for about a year with no luck.

Sorry guys, that is a Northern Black Racer! It had the weight closer to an Indigo, although I have never caught one. It was mean and bit me several times. An Indigo would never survive in Massachusetts! Unfortunately that is probable the closest I will ever come to catching an Indigo.

I wish some of the people here wouldn't go saying things they knoe nothing about. The color of a racer's belly depends on what subspecies it is. Black racers do not have white bellies. Also indigo snakes are southern snakes, if you knew anything about them you would know they don't live that far north. Also, indigos have either red or brown chins depending on wether they're texas indigos or eastern indigos. Also, I hope you weren't saying you catch indigo snakes because that's illegal. Indigo snakes are protected, I believe theyre protected federally but I'm not entirely sure but I know they're protected.

harley you were probably catching black ratsnakes but thats a comon missidentification. I prefer ratsnakes anyway their great snakes
