Thanks so much. The guy I bought it from said it was a Desert King. I don't know much about Colubrids but I thought it looked like either a Cali King or an Eastern Chain. Just wondering how you tell the difference?

Interesting. It does resemble an eastern, though. But i'll trust the kingsnake people on the ID.

The Eastern, or Chain as it is also called, has thinner stripes... This Cali has bands, which are wider than stripes. This is a great place to get educated - I have learned a lot myself.
Nice snake.

For what it's worth - I have an Eastern Chained King, captive-bred locality unknown, and its markings look IDENTICAL to that of yours. The thickness, angle, and interrupted pattern of yours is extremely typical of an Eastern, along with the color, etc. Check out chocolates, and I would believe that you would definently consider yours an Eastern. Welcome to the privelged few!!
