great looking snake. I love the black/white Kings. Great roomy enclosure to love it.
Is he active or mostly hides? I ask because looking into a king and that type is on my choice list for a 30 gallon natural looking terrarium. Though I imagine after 2 yrs or so they need a 40 long/55 gallon.

She active about 50% of the time, even the days after she eats sometimes, at most 1 days worth of "food coma." Its a "20 gallon" 30"x12"x12" = 18.7 gallons but with in the next year im going to get either a bigger tank for my ball python and give her its 36x12x12 or buy her the same size tank. I want to get my BP an 18" high tank of the same size. If you get a baby king (mine was born 6/13/04) and have a large cage make sure to give it plenty of hides. a 20 gallon is the minimum for both an adult BP and kingsnake
She does burrow a lot if you look at my pics. substrate is ESU desert litter. its actually quite entertaining to watch her dig her way around. sometimes i wont see her for a few hours when she is burrowed under the litter.

nice cal king as well as the cage. Do you live in San Diego? I know that the SD IRBA show is in downtown, but do you know what date(s) the show takes place? thanks.

let it settle for a little bit, maybe a day or 2 before trying to handle it. move slow, dont do any sudden movements, even when you move slow they still flinch a lot as babies. mine calms down after a few mins of handling

if its coiled up and rattling it tail, it might strike you, it will prolly also musk u if you pick and it squirms to get away

feed him/her every 5 days, something around the same width or just slightly larger is good

my snake actually likes to climb, i see her on it every other day or so, my BP does nothing but climb at night, on anything he can climb on
