chaos

I keep a fire skink. Is that a red sided skink? Nice looking. I imagine same care as fire skink?

actually no its a malagasy plated lizard...which has about 4 different names ...most of em used by petshops ...bleh.... i don.t know if th care is the same ive never owner any skinks even though they are incredibly cute this lil guy loves lots of heat apearently and also spends tons of time in the sand his feeding habbits are irregular too since when ever he comes up from the sand is totaly random, hmm tell me about the care for your skink and ill know how close it is...

Oh I guessed red sided african skink because closest lizard I could picture it to. Its colors are very nice. Fire skinks are colorful they love to dig and hide but bask to. Eat insects,some fruit and tame down and can be handled (I got mine as small so very calm) they also hate each other and best kept by themselves.
I imagine yours is a digger to by the shape of his head but maybe I am wrong.
Pet store I go to carries lots neat lizards but I have never seen one like yours.

yah hes a digger....so your right.......its beyond impossible to handle chaos..though...he lives up to his name if u try to even touch him he will dart....away so fast it is amazing.

Did you get him in a pet store or through the classifieds?
I ask because like I mentioned I have never seen this type of lizard before being sold atleast in my area and they carry unusual stuff in Miami pet stores.

I found him in a petco one night while i was out getting supplies for my first plated lizard, i always go over and look at the herps...and there was a tank with bark chips water and nothing else and it said rainbow rock lizard....but I was like wheres the lizard..so I asked a guy if i could see him and the minute I saw him i had to have him sooo cute... sorry for the long boring story but i love chaos to death ...lol also...ive been looking to get 2 more...but omg it has been a near impossible task ive checked the classifieds the online stores....I'll prolly have to rely on dumbluck and hope theres one in the random petcos I vist...

Funny you say that because as a whole I dont like petco or any of those chain type pet stores for animals. I do go there to buy crickets since the normal pet store I go to is far away but I must say once in awhile you find a rare impossible to find lizard or amphibian such as in your case.
They ofcourse usually have the wrong name on it lol but they also have a gem that they arent aware of for very little money.
I know your type of lizard isnt easy to find. you got very lucky.

overall they arent terribly bad...except some locations like the one near my ex gfs place...all the tanks needed cleaning it was kinda sad i go to petco basically for food and equipment...and rarely if i see something i think is absolutely adorable ill buy it. its unlikely that i will get any more pets from petco though since all im looking for are malagasy plated lizards and yellow throated plated lizards.and once i get thoose i wont even go to petco for food anymore ill have to order large numbers of crix and worms. I do feel lucky to have found chaos he is easily my favorite i will put a few more pics of him up soon too.
