for a fat tail of that age i would highly recommend a substrate of either paper towel or newspaper. sand is a bad cuase it causes impaction. Even if it is that calicum sand junk i wouldnt use it. calicum sand encourges the gecko to eat it and after a while the gecko eats to much and gets impaction.
