Ok, I'm updating this entry because I haven't gotten ANY feed back on it. After looking at some of the pictures here I am questioning my original assessment. I am now inclined to believe this is in fact a brown recluse. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. As I had said before, I forced myself past my arachnophobia to the point that I was able to measure this spider. The body on this one (approx. the same size as the others i've seen) is 3/8 of an inch long.

i dunno if this helps,but hwere im from we call brown recluse fiddlebacks. supposedly they have a light-brown mark on they're backs resembling a violin. and in the future, instead of taking a chance of getting bitten by spiders, you can get a mason jar put the spider in it and drop a cottonball with rubbing alchohol on it, seal it up and wait. you can measure them easier this way.
