Keywords: boa constrictor surinames surinams suris bcc redtail redtale tail tale roodstaart staart rtb male 1.0

[ Male Surinam Boa Constrictor = 5 foot 4 inches (1.60m), CB around 1996 ]

POPQUIZ:
Can a 5 foot Suri escape through an opening of almost ONE INCH?

THE ANSWER:
Yes, you bet his shiney red hiney!

THE STORY:
Due to the hot weather, the temperature and air humidity where kinda high in the snakecage. So I moved the two metal panels on top of my toploader cage almost one inch apart, and I left it like this... And after a while I noticed the biggest boa was gone! You can see on the photo it's not a baby boa anymore, but it fit through the one inch hole! Luckily I found him again, after practically tearing the room apart!

MORAL:
Don't try this at home kids :P Hahaha... It gave me heart problems :P

This was a stupid mistake of mine. We all know snakes are escape artists! But this just confirms it big time, hahaha...

Wow, that's nuts...lol.
What I know that if a snakes head can fit, the whole body can....that amazes me. Glad you found him right away.... If I find that my cat was gone, I'd know that one has escaped. That's why I keep my snakes in a closed room away from my other animals.

Thanks :) LOL! Everytime I leave the room, I always got to check the cages to make sure all of them are closed...I swear I'm getting a disorder I think it's called ebssesive composive disorder (sp?). I just hate having a snake come out and eat everything in site. Just I wouldn't want it coming into my room eating me alive....I swear, that's going to be the death of me, my own snakes. Sorry for the long post. ;)

By the way, your snake is very nice looking. I love the color of the tail. One of my females tail gets that bright. Depending on her mood. I posted a picture up of her on this site.

Thanks, stereo_installer... yeah, I saw your female pic in your gallery. Very nice pattern!

Yeah, escaping snakes suck, hahaha... I was so angry with myself! It was my own mistake of course... Luckily the door to this room is always closed when I'm not here... I would be devestated if one of 'em was really gone!

I get images of my neighbours killing my innocent boas with shovels etc... hahaha...

Thanks, Hatebreed...

Hahaha, I also made a little 'dance' of joy when I found my snake-friend again, hahaha... He's the first snake I ever bought, over 4,5 years ago...

BTW, kick collection of snakes you've got there, Hatebreed! Nice...!

if you think that is amazing, imagine an w/c eastern milk snake small enough to fit through a 3/32 in hole! Beleive it, i had a bunch of those holes drilled in a rubbermaid snap topper container, and one day i opened it up and nothing! I also had two of my baby leos escape a couple days ago, found one but not the other, that was my fault i pushed the containers too far back into the rack and they went out the back side, leaving a gap. I guess i should have put a back on my rack.

O really?! Wow, hahaha, that's madness! :D Hope you find the other leo again... Nothing as frustrating as an escaped pet...
