I found this beetle crawling on the side of my house in northeast Ohio. First time I've ever run across one, and I'm just wondering what it is. The summer temperature has been about 80^, it's 85^ outside today and it's been a bit damp lately. Thanks for helping me satisfy my curiosity! :)

Hi, my name is melody and I am an entomology student and this is called a Ivory-marked Beetle.
Habitat-forests and particularly with hardwoods, and lumberyards
Range-east of great plains
food-Adults eat foliage and new twig growth. larva bores in wood
Life Cycle- Eggs are laid singly in breaks through bark. Larve eat tunnels inward, especially in oak, ash, maple, hickory, chesnut, cypress, honey locust, beech, and elm.

Larvae of the Ivory-marked beetle are heartwood-borers, making their way deep within a tree to the heartwood found near the center. for this reason the species is of some economic importance. this beetle is quite similar to the spotted apple tree borer, another of the longhorned beetles that occur in much of the same range. Both are destructive to tree's.
