Hmmm. I may be wrong but, I'm guessing your first language isn't english.

GORGEOUS cockatoo, but you need to change his diet!

A diet of sunflowers is not acceptable. Your cockatoo should be recieving fresh vegetables, fruits, and foods such as cooked brown rice, along with parrot pellets, or parrot birdfood from a petstore.

Hello again,
AHA your from Signapore :D

You still need to change your cockatoos diet(food). He should recieve a variety of grains, seeds, and nuts. As well with vegetables(broccoli, carrots, spinach, peas, cooked yams, etc), and fruits such as papaya, appples, pears, pineapple, melon, etc... BUT NO AVACODOE(Will kill your cockatoo)

To teach your parrot to talk, just speak to him regularely(He should pick up words), as well with repeat words to him you'd like to learn.(Use emotion and expression when talking)

Give your cockatoo time to calm down. Put out your hand slowly, and speak softly to him. Reward him with a treat when he's done something you'd like him to do.

NEVER yell, or phyiscally abuse your parrot.

Hello Again :D I am from Canada, and I'm glad I can help you!

Yes, your cockatoo may be afraid of your dog, and your dog may be afraid of your cockatoo. I would always keep an eye on both animals when out, as either of them could injure, or frighten each other. Keep your dog and cockatoo in two seperate rooms.

I give my birds; cooked rice, vegetables(carrots, leafy greens(spinach, kale, bok choy etc), occasionally fruit(apple, pear, and watermelon), hardboiled egg, cooked pasta, pellets, grains, nuts and seeds.

The brand of birdfood I buy from my petshop is called "Hagen". Kaytee, and 8-1 are also good parrot food brands!

Your cockatoo may be frightened of you because you have just recieved/bought him. It will take some time before he can get adjusted to his environment, and settings. He should get used to you eventually!!!

You can check my photo gallery for my pet pictures :)

Cockatoo's can live for over 70 years, and I'm afraid I can not tell by the picture how old he is. I would assume he's probably a very young cockatoo, or an middle aged cockatoo.

Please visit www.Birdboard.com this an amazing site, and the friendly members will be able to guide you with the keeping of your cockatoo

Hello,
To be quite honest you picture isn't quite clear enough for me to diagnose any problems. Something I'd highly recommend you do, is search for an avian vetrinarian.Hopefully the other site can help tell you if your birdie has a problem.

Sounds like your little guys being stubborn lol! Try offering the carrots and papaya in different ways. Cut it up, wedge it between his bars, feed it to him by hand... eat some yourself to show him... MMMM this is really good!

Also, mayhe he just doesn't like carrots, and papaya. Try other frutis and vegetables...

Hello,
Thats great that your cockatoo tried some orange very healthy for him! Hopefully he will eat other fruits and vegetables.

Although your cockatoo eats sunflower seeds, they aren't very healthy for him. They are very fattening, and have very little nutrition.

I'm very pleased that you went out to buy parrot food. Is the food you bought him pellets? Is it seeds, and grains?

Try mixing both of his foods together(his regular food, and the food you bought). Slowly he should convert to his new food.

That would be great if you could get a clearer photo! I'm pretty sure that your cockatoo may have a sore on his lower mandible.

You should have training sessions every day with your parrot, to make him a loveable pet.

Of course its fine if you call me a friend! Your my buddy, I'm your buddy its all good, lol.

I looked at your picture. To be honest I think your cockatoo should be fine. If he does have a small problem it isn;t showing, and it hopefully should heal.

You should still find a vet though.

What other pets do you own?

WOW, you have some amazing species of pets!

I have; two cockatiels, two budgies, an orange cheeked waxbill, a firebellied toad, a Chinease firebellied newt, and a rough green snake.

I would suggest you ask your cockatoo training questions at Birdboard.com in the "Ask the Expert" forum. Their you will be able to get more answers, from people with actual experience with cockatoos.

lol... I will!
But, I recommend you posting at BirdBoard for your questions, because their are soo many knowledgable people over their including breeders, cockatoo owners, etc.

I have never owned a cockatoo in my life, and don't have any hand in hand experience with them. Therefore it would be better if you could ask your questions over their(Or at BirdHobbyist forums(But I am biased, and believe you'll recieve a load more info at Birdboard as not as many users are over here at birdhobbyist.)
