Nice gerbil. I read they do better in tanks because they wont kick liter out but after reading how active they are I thought a big cage with lots climbing stuff might be better?
Do you find the combo of 2 females better than 2 males?

thankss.. :)..well its true they do good in tanks..i got a tank myself for them but switch sometimes from the cage to the tank.. in the tank they wont throw things out as easly, couse they dig so much. but i think they like the cage better couse they have more space and they can climb, but then you got a problem with them throwing stuff out of the cage.that can be solved if you buy the right cage, and put paper infront of the bars at the lower parts of the cage.i did that. i never had 2 males, i only had 2 females..but i think 2 females are best..males could fight more then females i hierd. as long as you have 2 gerbils or more and not one..

Okay thanks. I am going to get a cage your right it has more room and overall climbing areas, etc. I will just use something so litter doesnt get kicked out but the cages look better.
I was going to get 2 males but will get 2 females instead. I imagine sisters from same litter should be okay.
Thanks.

well no problem :) i hope you take good care of them, and i hope you get beautifull gerbils..and make alot of pictures of them when you get them, and put them on here.. and yes from the same litter is best. i hope to see them in the future in pictures :)

I ordered a very large cage with three floors large bottom area for solid wheel and all the bars are pvc coated so wont hurt their feet. Though when I get it going to make the climbing floors solid with old carpet.
If they chew it will just replace it and going to put plastic sheet on the outside bottom so litter isnt kicked out.
Thanks for the advice i think a cage which has climbing areas and overall more room was the way to go.
