Keywords: Is this a wolf spider??? or a recluse???

I found this spider in my kids playroom and I need to know what kind it is, it was very large to be in the house. I would say with legs it was about 3 inches. We hate to kill spiders so we let it go in the field behind our house but now i am afraid that it might come back and we have a 2 month old and 2 year old so I want to know if I should be watching out for them. Thanks.

Actually, from what I've always heard and read, Wolf Spiders are not poisoness - or rather - not deadly. Below is a quote from a Spider Information Page:

"Wolf spiders and fisher spiders are not poisonous, though as with all spiders, bites may cause reactions in certain individuals. The presence of these spiders inside a building is usually a case of accidental invasion and is particularly common in the fall of the year. Spiders that can be successfully trapped in a large jar can be taken back outside and released. Otherwise, the only necessary control is to swat or spray the invaders with a household aerosol and then discard."

I guess anything is possible, but I would just keep releasing them elsewhere, if you can't keep them away, then I would try other measures.

Hope this helps!

Wolf spider. Harmless. These critters help keep your gardens pest-free, and do a hell of a job of it. They are agile hunters, with great eyesight.
