No, I didn't make this cage we bought it, the only thing I had to do was put it together which took a few hours. As for the heat, it does retain it pretty well. That was one of the biggest concerns we had: to be able to use the AC and not have to worry about the igs getting cold. So, I have the basking lights on a timer, the UV lights on another timer, and the ceramic heaters on a thermostat with a humidifier. During the daytime the temperature at the top stays around 95 about 88 in the middle and around 80 at the bottom. The humidity usually fluctuates between 60-85 percent (depending on how much I open the vents).

After assembling this cage, do you think you could have built it from Angle iron and glass cut from a shop? Maybe some wood fabrication?

Nice cage. I have gotten some of my cages from cagesbydesign as well. I'm still planning on getting at least 2 more.

I suppose that you could use angle iron and glass to build this cage. I think the glass would get kind of heavy. The stuff on this cage is plexiglass, which makes it a lot lighter and easier to move. But, if you know that kind of stuff....go for it!

Thanks for the compliment, we are actually planning on getting 2 more cages to attach to what we have now. However, it will have to wait until we move into a bigger place. The animals are taking over......and we're runnin' out of room. LOL
